DONNA AND JIM COSTELLO
About Donna and Jim
Donna and I will be married 49 years on May 3rd. We are both retired and have two daughters and four "perfect" grandchildren.
We moved to Connecticut in the early 70's on a company transfer. It was a large mining company and they had a small division in Greenwich, CT. It was a division that mined and processed Potash. which is a main ingredient of fertilizer.
Being a 'Bronx Boy· this was all new to me. Well, over the next forty years I spent my career in this industry. I was able to earn a Marketing Degree from Fairfield University by attending night classes for seven years.
The industry itself, as others have. went through hard times, cheap foreign competition, bankruptcies and consolidations. But through it all i survived and was able to move to different companies as head of sales and trading. The state of the industry has caused us to accept positions throughout the country. We have lived in Virginia. Florida and Texas but have returned to Connecticut.
In my position, I have traveled extensively both, domestic and international, twenty countries at last count. The good part of travel is when I get back into Kennedy or LaGuardia, I take the Hutch home and stop at White Castle for some sliders.
I have been between jobs several times and with a family to support it was hard. What kept me positive was in the early SO's Donna and I accepted Christ as our savior and were born again. Our faith has been a main part of our life since and has guided us through some tough times. The lord never let us down.
I still love basketball and have coached at different levels throughout the years, middle school, freshman and Varsity boys. Since my b·ball days are over I love playing golf.
To this day when people ask me where I come from. I always proudly say "THE BRONX"
